WARRIOR DOWN PROGRAM

This past month the Four Nations Warrior Down program and Sacred Web Recovery Coalition has went through some obstacles. Actually, we have been going through many obstacles since we started the Warrior Down program. We have struggled with getting funds to help us with the expenses of the program. Now, we have decided to scale back our office to only a meeting room. For myself, I am dealing with much anger and frustration over the Program. This past year I have went to make many presentation about the Warrior Down program and how it helps those Brothers and Sisters who struggle with their addictions and staying out of jail and trouble. At all of the presentations there was praise and support for the program and our success. We were told that if we need any help to let those that we presented the program know, which we did. Yet we still have not seen much support! For myself, it reminds me of the past broken promises that we as Native People have heard many times before. I've spent many days and nights praying about what is happening with us. I am beginning to see and to understand that it is up to us who are in the program and in Recovery to decide on whether we want to continue this journey.

Warrior Down is a grassroots movement started by individuals who came from prison, treatment centers, mental health facilities and those in recovery to help them with their journeys. After thinking about this, I began to realize that our struggles were due to my lack of planning. I got swept up in the movement and didn't plan well for the growth. So, now as we scale back, I believe that we will become stronger as Warriors. It is up to us in Recovery to make the changes necessary to stay sober and clean so we can help our families and the communities we live in. So, as we continue this journey it will be a better journey!

RECOVERY POLL

I added a Recovery Poll to my website to collect some data from those Brothers and Sisters in Recovery. Since we started the Warrior Down program last year, it seems that we are discovering that many Brothers and Sisters have tried many After-Care Recovery programs and been to a Treatment Program many times only to relapse. I hope the data collected from this poll will help us with the Warrior Down Program.

For many of us in Recovery, it seems that we are either forced to take a Treatment program which we know we are not going to use. With Warrior Down and the Wellbriety Teachings in order to change to occur it must first come from within our own hearts. I've seen this change in many of Brothers and Sisters as they join the Warrior Down program. For myself, my sobriety did not begin until I decided in my heart that I must change my lifestyle. CITY OF GREAT FALLS HOOP JOURNEY PROCLAMATION

On Tuesday, August 7, 2007, the Warriors of the Four Nation Warrior Down Pilot Project in Great Falls, MT. were honored and humbled with a presentation of a Proclamation proclaiming not only August 24, 2007 as Sacred Hoop Journey Day but the whole weekend as Sacred Hoop Journey Weekend (August 25 and 26). Six Warriors attended the Great Falls City Commissioners meeting to receive the Proclamation. Attached is the Proclamation from the City of Great Falls.

This means a lot to those of us who are in Recovery and Walking the Red Road. It gives us the strength to continue our Journey.
